Step 2. Click "Move" button, in pop-up "Select Target" dialog box, select a folder other than C, click "Select This Folder", and you will be prompted to move files to a new location, click "Yes" and system will move all files from current "Desktop" to a new location.

When choosing a target folder, remember not to directly select root directory of partition, such as D:\, as this can cause problems if you want to move to a different location later.

So actual storage path for future desktop files is on a non-system drive. Available space on drive C will not decrease.
