Compared to LCD monitors, LED displays have more advantages in terms of brightness, power consumption, viewing angle and refresh rate. Using LED technology, you can create displays that are thinner, brighter, and sharper than LCDs.

To put it simply, LCD and LED are two different display technologies. LCD is a display screen made up of liquid crystals and LED is a display screen made up of light emitting diodes.

My friends, now you should understand difference between LCD and LED! Then everyone will say that LED is so good, then I should buy an LED display! a real LED screen, to be precise, it is an LCD with LED backlight, and LCD panel is still a traditional LCD screen. In a way, this is more or less a scam! Advertising association as a violation of country's advertising law because its "LEDTV" LCD TV was suspected of misleading consumers. For liquid crystal displays, most important key is its liquid crystal panel and backlight type, and LCD display panel in market usually uses TFT panel, which is same. The difference between LED and LCD is only their backlight type: LED backlight and CCFL backlight (then there are fluorescent lamps) are diodes and cold cathode lamps, respectively.

Difference between LED display and LCD display:

LED backlight: energy saving (compared to 30-50% energy saving of CCFL), high price, high brightness and saturation.

CCFL backlight: Uses more power than LED backlight (still saves a lot of power than CRT) and is cheaper.

Screen difference: LED backlight color is brighter, high saturation (natural light source of CCFL and LED is different).

There are still true LED TVs on market (don't rely on backlight, will actively emit light), both SONY and Samsung, but their panels are currently smaller than 11 inches and price is very expensive, as is asking price. As you can see from picture, difference in color between LCD screen and LED screen is not very large under normal naked eye observation. If you're paying disproportionate money just for name of LED, it's really unnecessary.
