Can DDR4 memory cards with different frequencies form dual-channel?
Of course, yes, and many players may know this. But why? Because no matter what frequency they can reach, their fundamental frequency is 2133MHz.
What will happen to dual-channel DDR4 memory with different frequencies? The editor's memory card is one Guangwei Titan DDR4 2400 8G memory card, and then I borrowed one Guangwei TYPE α DDR4 2666 8G memory card to try DDR4 memory cards with different frequencies and two channels.

Guangwei Titan DDR4 2400 8G single memory, Micron/Hynix particles, sync 17-17-17-39, lifetime warranty, replacement only, 339 yen.

Guangwei type α 2666 8G memory card using Micron and Hynix DRAM memory particles, timing 16-18-18-38, 399 yen is a memory card with high performance and high cost.

In name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I pronounce them married. Next, let's see if they can form a double pass, and how things are with formation of a double pass.

CPU-Z shows our memory size is 16GB, dual channel, 1066*2 memory frequency is about 2133MHz. The base frequency of Guangwei Titan DDR4 2400 8G and Guangwei TYPE α DDR4 2666 8G is 2133MHz, and we did not use XMP to overclock memory, so memory frequency is still 2133NHZ when they form a double pass.

A dual-channel memory module can improve memory performance of your computer, visible to naked eye. From figure above, it can be seen that after formation of a double pass, memory performance of our CPU and GPU doubled. When we use large-scale software and play large-scale games, boosting memory performance will greatly improve efficiency of our CPU and GPU.
However, two memory cards with different frequencies form a dual channel, and memory frequency will be based on lowest frequency of two memory cards. That is, if we combine DDR4 2400 8G and Guangwei TYPE α DDR4 2666 8G to form a double pass, memory frequency without overclocking will be 2133. The maximum frequency has been reached.

Computer memory performance will increase exponentially if memory cards are dual-pass, but using two memory cards with different nominal frequencies to form dual-pass cards is very uneconomical. According to many players, overclocking the Guangwei type α 2666 8G memory card to 3000 MHz is not a problem at all. If you want to set up a two-pass mode, spend less money and have better memory performance, then a pair of Guangwei type α 2666 8G is a very good choice.
