PCI-E is not necessarily fast
While an NVMe M.2 SSD with a PCI-E link can take full advantage of read and write benefits, it depends on situation when using a PCI-E link. One is to look at basic control of SSD itself, and other is to look at what PCI-E channels interface supports. As shown in figure below, speed gap between different PCI-E levels is very large.
