Can DDR3 and DDR3L be mixed? Is DDR3L compatible with DDR3?

Can I mix DDR3 and DDR3L?
As mentioned above, DDR3 and DDR3L memory are compatible in most cases and can be mixed and matched, and system will automatically configure memory for two different voltages. However, it is best to use memory of same brand and same frequency for mixed use.
However, for stability reasons, it is not recommended to select a mixture of DDR3 and DDR3L memory.
Are DDR3L and DDR3 compatible?
DDR3L refers to low voltage version of memory, while DDR3 refers to standard version of memory. After mixing dual memory, system will automatically adjust memory to two different voltages in theory. Both are compatible with each other. As a rule, mixing them is not difficult.
But there are also incompatible motherboards. For example, some older motherboards may not be compatible with DDR3 and DDR3L memory. In case of a normal boot, although some relatively new motherboards are theoretically compatible, this cannot be completely guaranteed.
