How to judge a computer malfunction by sound of computer motherboard?
When computer crashes, main board beeps. This beep is not random, but a normal beep. Each beep indicates a problem with different hardware. 1. Award BIOS Beep Meaning:
1 short: The system starts normally. Congratulations, your car is fine.
2 short: general error, please enter CMOS settings and reset invalid parameter.
1 long and 1 short: RAM or motherboard error. Try another memory, if it still doesn't work you will have to replace motherboard.
1 long and 2 short: monitor or graphics card error.
1 long and 3 short: keyboard controller error. Check motherboard.
1 long and 9 short: Wrong motherboard flash or EPROM, and corrupted BIOS. Try a different block of Flash RAM.
Continuous beep (long beep): The memory module is loose or damaged. Reinstall memory module, if it still doesn't work just replace one memory module.
Continuous beep: The power supply, monitor, and graphics card are not properly connected. Check all plugs.
Repetitive short beeps: There is a problem with power supply.
No sound or picture: power problem.
2. AMI BIOS self-test beep meaning:
1 short: Failed to refresh memory. Replace memory module.
2 short: ECC memory check error. This can be solved by setting ECC memory check option to "Disabled" in CMOS settings, but most fundamental solution is to replace some of memory.
3 short: System main memory check (first 64 KB) failed. Change memory.
4 short: system clock error.
5 short: Central processing unit (CPU) error.
6 short: keyboard controller error.
7 short: real mode system error, unable to switch to protected mode.
8 short: display memory error. If there is a problem with display memory, try replacing video card.
9 short: BIOS ROM checksum error.
1 long and 3 short: memory error. The memory is damaged, just replace it.
1 long and 8 short: display test errors. The display data cable is not inserted correctly or display card is not inserted firmly.
